Today, having travelled to one country, experienced the culture there, just isn’t sufficient. Especially, when it comes to the ever-changing nature of businesses world-wide, one has to be smart globally. By this we mean, one must have sound knowledge of varied global cultures, customs, practices and traditions. And this is possible only if you allow yourself some well-thought out and planned global immersion opportunities. So, then the question is, why is ‘Global Immersion’ indispensable? Why is it radically important to learn about global customs and cultures in business?

 

Consider a scenario where you have to attend a meeting with Japanese delegates. It may ruin your first impression if you are unaware of the greeting differences. In India or USA, shaking hands is generally a norm whereas in Japan, people usually greet each other with a simple bow as opposed to handshakes or hugs. Similarly, in the UAE, it is considered inappropriate to offer to shake hands with women whereas men usually would shake hands for a while longer and hug close colleagues. This is what makes it imperative to know cultural differences. Immersing in global environments makes one culturally sensitive to varied customs and traditions and how locals meet and communicate. The overall objectives of the program are:

  • To provide an understanding of the region’s business, cultural, and political environments;
  • To achieve a working knowledge of local business practices through direct interaction with managers and government officials;
  • To explore the value of different economic models as benchmarks for global business practices; and
  • Teamwork and communication are an integral part of the programme. The students take active part in a number of group projects that promote group learning and help improve the organizational and leadership skills. Through written and oral presentations, the students develop the confidence to effectively communicate their ideas in a corporate forum.
  • Designed to train students to become excellent managers, entrepreneurs and high-level-decision-makers with broad strategic vision, this full-time two-year programme views management as an integrated process and helps students develop a global view and respond effectively to changes in the economic, technological, educational, cultural and political environments. Specific skills in areas such as finance, marketing, human resource, operations, systems and international business and management lie at the heart of the programme.

Each immersion experience consists of several basic features: 1) reflection sessions, 2) company/government meetings and 3) cultural events.

Programme Structure:

One Year in Indian University and Second year with our partner University in Dubai/ Poland/Germany/UK/US 

The program will cover 110 Credits with 60 credits to be completed in India and rest 50 credit with our partner university abroad.

Interaction with industry practitioners

ASSIGNMENTS

  • Students will, in collaboration with their teams, prepare a profile for a selected company visit on the GIP (teams will be assigned, and the list of companies will be available on the course Canvas site).  This profile will provide your classmates with important background information about the companies, including relevant trends and the issues they face.  We will add completed profiles to a comprehensive travel brochure for your reference and will ask you to present the profile to the group during the study-tour.
  • Final Assignment: The course will conclude with a group presentation on a particular theme or focus related to material that you learned through the GIP, designed by the group in conjunction with the Faculty Director.

Eligibility:

  1. The Candidate should be an Indian National.
  2. Passed minimum three year duration Bachelor’s Degree awarded by any of the Universities recognized by University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent ( at least 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons With Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) or its equivalent
  3. Obtained non zero score in CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MH-MBA-CET
  4. For PIO/OCI/NRI Point 2 and Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Selection Process:

Students must qualify for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) conducted by Cosmoversity and home university academic council.
