Language Skills

While our placements are English friendly, students with second language skills are welcome. Imagine building your vocabulary in the workplace as well as on your off days. You are making yourself more marketable by the minute.

What is special about IIP

• IIP offers placements in a variety of interest areas. Students will have the opportunity to take on a range of work responsibilities – from lab research and fieldwork to administration and marketing. Our close relationship with each direct supervisor allows us to monitor the level of work responsibilities given to each intern.
• IIP encourages students to connect their internship experience to their academic interests. Students are encouraged to seek out faculty and graduate students pre- and post-internship for recommendations on how to further their experience. Many students have incorporated their IIP research into their research reports  and thesis. Students should check with their academic department to see if an internship will be required as part of your concentration or certificate.
• IIP interns will make lasting connections with their supervisors, colleagues, and research teams abroad.

Let’s Talk About Process

When you are applying for internships abroad, you will follow a step by step process with our team that will provide you with enough information to help you make an informed decision about an internship abroad with Global Experiences.

Step 1: Apply

Submit your application and start working with your Admissions Counsellor. We will have an interview to learn about your career goals, educational background, and location preferences to ensure that you are a good candidate to intern abroad.

Step 2: Accept

Once your interview and application are complete, you’ll be cleared to apply. Your Admissions Counsellor and our Placement Team will determine if we’re able to match you with a great host employer in your chosen destination. If accepted, this means we can guarantee you an internship within your career field.

Step 3: Enroll

After acceptance, the next step is to simply enroll into the program with your initial deposit to secure your spot. Enrolling means you have officially decided to join the Global Experience program and take on the challenge and thrill of living and becoming an intern abroad in a new city!

Step 4: Prepare

Before you arrive in your host city, you will work one-on-one with your Program Advisor. They work with you on professional development, career advising and make sure you are ready to move and intern in your new home.

Step 5: Interview

We will start the match-making process and narrow down employers to a select few that you would be a great fit for. You’ll have a Skype or phone interview before you go so they can get to know you, and you can get to know them. If everything goes well, then your internship is confirmed! You’ll know where you’ll be interning and the role you’ll be walking into before you hop on the plane.

Step 6: Arrive

When you’ve arrived in your city, you will meet the Location Coordinator and the other interns at your housing. Your internship will start soon after you’ve arrived and there will be social events and excursions throughout the course of your program. We strive to give you the independence you want with the all the support and resources you need to be successful during your travel and internship.

Refund Policy

We realize that there is ongoing uncertainty especially as country-specific COVID-19 policies continue to evolve. The decision to make a financial commitment during this time is one we want you to feel comfortable with. Should a participant choose to withdraw from their program, eligibility for a refund and the amount of the eligible refund will be determined based on the format outlined below.

1. If you withdraw more than 40 days before program start – 100% refund (less deposit).
2. If you withdraw between 25- and 40-days program start – 40% refund (less deposit).
3. If you withdraw within 25 days of program start – Recoverable costs only (less deposit). All deposits are non-refundable as they fund core services related to the program.
